FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) stranded inventory refers to items that are being stored in an Amazon fulfillment center but cannot be sold because of issues such as being non-compliant with Amazon’s policies, being unfulfillable, or having expiration dates that are approaching or have already passed. In this post, we’ll explain the general process for correcting stranded inventory.

How to Correct Stranded Inventory

1. Identify the Stranded Inventory

You can view a list of your stranded inventory in your Amazon seller account by going to the “Inventory” page and selecting the “Stranded Inventory” tab.

2. Determine the Cause of the Stranded Inventory

There could be several reasons why an item has become stranded. For example, it may be non-compliant with Amazon’s policies, it may be unfulfillable due to a lack of available stock, or it may have an expiration date that is approaching or has already passed.

3. Correct the Issue

Depending on the cause of the stranded inventory, you will need to take different steps to correct the issue. For example, if the item is non-compliant with Amazon’s policies, you may need to make changes to the listing to make it compliant. If the item is unfulfillable, you may need to restock it or remove it from the Amazon marketplace. If the item has an expiration date that is approaching or has already passed, you may need to dispose of it.

4. Communicate with Amazon

If you are unable to correct the issue on your own, you may need to contact Amazon for help. For example, if the stranded inventory is the result of a fulfillment error, you can contact Amazon’s customer service team to request assistance.

5. Update Your Inventory

Once you have corrected the issue with the stranded inventory, you will need to update your inventory to reflect the changes. This may involve creating a new listing for the item, updating the existing listing, or removing the item from the Amazon marketplace entirely.
